2. Eligibility
To be eligible, applicants must meet all of the following criteria at the time of application:
2.1 The organization must be a registered Canadian charity or nonprofit organization in good standing with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) or applicable provincial authority.
2.2 The organization must currently be operating on an entry-level or legacy accounting platform (e.g., QuickBooks, QuickBooks Online, Sage 50, Adagio, Microsoft Dynamics GP, or equivalent) or a fragmented financial system that predates modern cloud ERP.
2.3 The organization must be located and incorporated in Canada.
2.4 The application must be submitted by an individual with authority to act on behalf of the organization (e.g., Director of Finance, CFO, Executive Director, or equivalent).
2.5 The organization must not be a current Sage Intacct customer at the time of application.
2.6 The organization must not be an active sales opportunity in Sage Canada’s CRM system being managed by another Sage partner at the time of application. Cantatus will verify this with Sage Canada during the eligibility screening process.
2.7 Employees, contractors, and immediate family members of Cantatus Systems Group, Inc. and Sage Software Canada Ltd. are not eligible to apply.
3. How to Apply
3.1 Applications must be submitted through the official grant application portal at www.cantatus.com/grant during the Campaign Period.
3.2 The application will require the organization to provide: organization profile and contact information, CRA charitable registration number, mission statement, current accounting system in use, description of current financial system challenges, board readiness for modernization, anticipated implementation timeline, recent organizational outcomes, and a statement of purpose for applying.
3.3 Applications must be fully completed and submitted no later than 11:59 PM Pacific Time on August 31, 2026. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
3.4 There is no fee to apply.
3.5 Only one application per organization will be accepted.
3.6 Following application submission, applicants may be asked to provide additional information through a pre-meeting questionnaire to support the Digital Transformation Audit process. This information will be used to prepare a more relevant assessment and will be handled in accordance with Section 7.
3.7 By submitting an application, the applicant represents and warrants that: (a) all information provided in the application is true, accurate, and complete; (b) the individual submitting the application has the authority to do so on behalf of the organization; and (c) the organization meets all eligibility criteria set out in Section 2.
4. Selection Process
4.1 Stage 1 — Eligibility Screening: All applications will be reviewed by Cantatus to confirm they meet the eligibility criteria in Section 2. Ineligible applications will be disqualified without further review.
4.2 Stage 2 — Audit Priority Scoring: All eligible applications will be scored by Cantatus using a standardized audit priority scoring system (maximum 50 points) based on application data. The top 10 scoring organizations will advance to panel evaluation. In the event of tied scores at the 10th position, all tied organizations will advance.
4.3 Stage 3 — Panel Evaluation: The top 10 scoring organizations will be evaluated by an independent panel of 3 to 5 business and nonprofit leaders. Panel members are jointly recruited by Cantatus and Sage Canada but are independent of both organizations. The panel will use a weighted rubric across three dimensions:
- Organizational Impact (40%)
- Community and Beneficiary Impact (35%)
- Financial Sustainability Impact (25%)
Each dimension contains multiple sub-criteria scored according to a standardized rubric. Maximum total panel evaluation score is 100 points. The top 5 scoring organizations will advance to finalist interviews.
4.4 Stage 4 — Finalist Interviews: The top 5 scoring organizations will be invited to participate in a 30-minute video interview with the independent evaluation panel. Interviews will be conducted during the first two weeks of September 2026. The purpose of the interview is to assess leadership engagement, organizational change readiness, and case study potential. Maximum interview score is 30 points.
4.5 The winner will be selected by the independent panel based on the highest combined panel evaluation score and interview score (maximum 130 points). In the event of a tie, the panel will apply the following tiebreaker protocol: (1) highest Organizational Impact sub-score, (2) highest Community and Beneficiary Impact sub-score, (3) panel discussion and majority vote. The panel’s decision is final and binding.
4.6 All eligible applicants will be offered a Digital Transformation Audit at no cost. Completion of the Digital Transformation Audit is required for an application to advance to panel evaluation. Applicants who do not complete the audit by August 31, 2026 will not be considered for finalist selection. The audit is a structured assessment of the organization’s current financial systems, digital maturity, and transformation readiness, delivered by Cantatus as a professional consulting service. Audit scheduling priority will be determined by Cantatus based on application data. Audit delivery will occur during the Campaign Period. The audit and its deliverables are retained by the applicant regardless of grant outcome.
4.7 Panel members are required to disclose any personal or professional relationship with any applicant organization. A panel member with a conflict of interest will recuse themselves from scoring that applicant. Cantatus will manage the conflict of interest process and reserves the right to replace a panel member if necessary.
4.8 The Digital Transformation Audit is provided as a complimentary assessment for program purposes only. It does not create a client relationship, consulting engagement, or duty of care between Cantatus and the applicant. Applicants should not rely solely on the audit findings for business decisions and are encouraged to seek independent professional advice.
5. Grant Package
5.1 One (1) grant package will be awarded, consisting of two components:
Component A: Sage Intacct Subscription (provided by Sage Software Canada Ltd.)

Cantatus and Sage Canada will charge applicable taxes on their respective components in accordance with the Excise Tax Act and applicable provincial legislation. 7.3 Applicant information will not be sold to third parties. Cantatus and Sage Canada may use application data for internal business development and pipeline reporting purposes consistent with the administration of this program. As part of the program, organizations that demonstrate readiness and fit for financial system modernization may be introduced to Sage Canada representatives for further discussion of their technology needs. Any such introduction will be made with the applicant’s knowledge and is separate from the grant evaluation process. An introduction to Sage Canada does not affect an organization’s grant evaluation score or eligibility.
7.4 By submitting an application, applicants consent to receiving follow-up communications from Cantatus and Sage Canada related to the grant program, including audit scheduling, finalist notifications, and promotional updates. All commercial electronic messages will comply with Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) and will include a functional unsubscribe mechanism.

9. General Conditions
9.1 Cantatus reserves the right to verify the eligibility of any applicant and to disqualify any applicant who provides false, misleading, or fraudulent information in their application.
9.2 Cantatus reserves the right to modify, amend, or update these Terms and Conditions at any time, at its sole discretion, without prior notice. Changes are effective immediately upon posting to the program landing page. Your continued participation in the program following the posting of any changes constitutes your acceptance of those changes. It is your responsibility to review these Terms and Conditions periodically for updates.
9.3 Cantatus reserves the right to modify, suspend, or cancel the program at any time, at its sole discretion, without prior notice, including but not limited to circumstances involving technical failures, force majeure events, changes to applicable law or regulation, or changes in business circumstances.
9.4 Cantatus and Sage Canada are not responsible for: incomplete, lost, late, misdirected, or undeliverable applications; technical failures; or any injury, loss, or damage arising from participation in this program or the receipt or use of any component of the grant package.
9.5 This program is governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. Any disputes arising from this program will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of British Columbia.
9.6 This program is void where prohibited or restricted by law.
9.7 By submitting an application, each applicant agrees to be bound by these Terms and Conditions, as they may be amended from time to time, and by the decisions of Cantatus and the independent evaluation panel, which are final and binding in all matters relating to this program.
9.8 Cantatus and Sage Canada are under no obligation to award the grant package. The decision to award, and the selection of a recipient, is entirely at the discretion of Cantatus and the independent evaluation panel. Cantatus reserves the right to not award the grant package if, in its sole judgment, no applicant meets the program’s quality threshold or if circumstances make the award impractical.
9.9 Nothing in these Terms and Conditions, and no action taken by Cantatus in administering this program, creates a binding obligation, contract, or promise to award the grant package to any applicant. Participation in the application process, completion of the Digital Transformation Audit, or selection as a finalist does not entitle any applicant to receive any component of the grant package.
9.10 In the event that the grant package is not awarded for any reason, Cantatus and Sage Canada will have no liability to any applicant for costs, expenses, lost opportunities, or any other damages arising from participation in the program.
9.11 Sage Software Canada Ltd. is a program partner and is not a party to these Terms and Conditions. Cantatus does not guarantee the availability or delivery of any component provided by Sage Canada. In the event that Sage Canada is unable to fulfill its contribution to the grant package, Cantatus reserves the right to modify or cancel the program in accordance with Section 9.3.
9.12 To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Cantatus and Sage Canada will not be liable to any applicant for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from participation in this program, including but not limited to costs incurred in preparing an application, attending webinars, or participating in audits or interviews.
9.13 Sections 7 (Privacy and Data Use), 8 (Intellectual Property), 9.4 (Limitation of Responsibility), 9.5 (Governing Law), 9.10 (No Liability for Non-Award), and 9.12 (Limitation of Liability) will survive the termination, cancellation, or completion of this program.
